Genesis 2:25 Amplified Bible
And the man and his wife were both naked and were not embarrassed or ashamed in each other’s presence.
For a marriage relationship to flourish, there must be intimacy.
It takes an enormous amount of courage to say to your spouse,
“This is me. I’m not proud of it — in fact, I’m a little embarrassed by it — but this is who I am.”
– Bill Hybels
When you said “I do”, you gave up the right to withhold secrets from your spouse. When a married couple is able to stand completely uncovered before one another in every sense, there is no shame involved. A vital part of intimacy is being able to know everything about each other, but still to accept one another. When we hold back parts of who we are, our intimacy becomes diluted. The word “intimacy” can be understood as INTO-ME-SEE.
Is there perhaps something hidden or shameful in your life that you have been withholding from your spouse?
