A cord of three strands

Ecclesiastes 4:12
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

The good news is that we weren’t meant to succeed by depending only on each other. Marriage is a triangle—with husband and wife at the bottom corners and the Lord at the top. The book of Ecclesiastes conveys a similar truth when Solomon talks about the strength of a three‐stranded cord. If we invite the Lord into our marriage and trust in His strength, we can experience strength and peace in our marriage regardless of the circumstances.

You and your spouse are not alone in your marriage, God is there too. Even though your spouse may change, God will always remain the same. Allow your love for God to be the unchangeable thing throughout your married life. The Lord’s presence will carry you through any difficulty that you may encounter.
