The most important person in the room

Philippians 2:5-8
In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human being, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross.

Jesus was more important than anyone else in the room, every time that He showed up. He put our needs ahead of the glory and honour that He deserved. Jesus did not come into this world to be right, He came into this world to submit Himself in order to have relationship with us.  We need to show humility in our marriages in order to preserve the relationship.

God knew what He was doing when He designed the institution of marriage. It’s a smart husband who recognizes this and lovingly cultivates his relationship with his wife.
