Contentment and acceptance

Philippians 4:11
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace,
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it,
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will,
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Acceptance is so important in marriage. We need to accept what we can’t change when it comes to our spouses.  We can’t expect perfection from others.  Although cannot change those around us, at least we can change ourselves.  Spend some time with the Lord to ask of Him how you can change for the better.  He will help you to do so by the power of the Holy Spirit.
