No place for entitlement in marriage

Ephesians 5:21
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Entitlement is the belief that I am exempt from responsibility and I am owed special treatment. Entitlement is: The man who thinks he is above all the rules. The woman who feels mistreated and needs others to make it up to her…  entitlement is the person who is capable of taking care of himself and still expects others to do that for him, because he feels he is owed that.
The Boundaries Books Team

There is no place for entitlement in marriage.  The Bible says that we are to submit to one another. Individual maturity leads to healthy relationships.  Let us choose to “grow up”, not allowing an immature sense of entitlement to poison our marriages.  Let us consider our spouses before ourselves and do what is best for the relationship, rather than sticking to what seems comfortable and is selfish.

do what is best
